Dr. Ellen Vandenberg, a Fort Frye alum, and Dr. Max Rennaker from Eyecare Associates in Marietta in partnership with the Ohio Opotometric Association provided the free iSee clinic for Fort Frye students today. They provided eye exams for students who met certain criteria around the district. Students were also able to pick out glasses if they needed. The glasses will be brought back to the school and fitted for each kid at a later date. Results will be sent home with students this week. Thank you Dr. Vandenberg and Dr. Rennaker for coming out and doing these exams for our students! We appreciate your hard work!
And proud of our district for not only excelling at academics, but also offering more and more free wellness opportunities for our kiddos!

Fort Frye Local Schools Hires Kaitlin Huck As Treasurer
News Release October 29, 2024
Fort Frye Local School is very excited to announce that at the October 28, 2024, Board of Education meeting, Miss Kaitlin Huck was hired as its school treasurer. Huck has been the school treasurer at New Lebanon Local Schools in the Dayton area since 2019, and will begin the full-time treasurer role at Fort Frye on January 2, under a three-year contract. Prior to working as a school treasurer, she was employed as an assistant auditor for the Auditor of State of Ohio for six years.
Huck is no stranger to Washington County as she graduated from Fort Frye High School in 2009, and then earned a bachelor degree in accounting from Marietta College in 2013. She is excited to return to her roots in the mid-Ohio Valley. “While I have truly enjoyed my time at New Lebanon Local Schools, I am very excited to return home to Cadet Country. As a proud alumna of Fort Frye Local Schools, I am looking forward to serving this District and community," stated Huck.
Fort Frye Board of Education President Lloyd Booth is eager to onboard Huck to the position. “Kaitlin is going to be a great asset to the district, and we are fortunate to find a quality candidate with solid experience and outstanding references mid-school year.”
Other members of the Board of Education echoed similar sentiment. Board of Education Vice-President Karri Schilling remarked, “She has a great track record at her current district, and I look forward to working with her to fine tune our budget even more.”
As the current school treasurer at New Lebanon, Huck has experience in all school operations such as budget balancing, federal and state grant program processes, union negotiations, personnel management, and equipment procurement. Huck is also very active at the regional and state levels in professional organizations that support and advocate for public schools, such as the Ohio Association of School Business Officials.
Fort Frye Superintendent Stephanie Starcher describes Huck as detail-oriented, forward-thinking, and hard-working. “I think Kaitlin and I will work well together and share the same passion for students and education.”

Last night the Board of Education honored several staff members and students. FFHS senior Laine Spindler won the OSBA award for outstanding female student in the region!
