Salem-Liberty fifth grade completed their Ohio Department of transportation snow plows this week. It looks wonderful. Excellent job, fifth graders and Mrs. Baker.




Today is National Custodian's Day. Thank you, Mr. Matt and Ms. Debbie, for your work at Salem-Liberty. We greatly appreciate it.
Reminder, Thursday is a 2 hour early out. We will dismiss at 2:00. Parent teacher conferences will take place starting at 2:15.
Mr. Joe Fouss visited both 4th & 5th grade social studies classes. He spoke to them about helping start the Lower Salem Volunteer Fire Dept. in 1974 and volunteering as a firefighter and EMT for 50 years. He shared several awards that he has earned over the years, including being one of ten senior citizens in the whole state of Ohio selected to join the Ohio Hall of Fame for Senior Citizens. Mr. Fouss also shared that he enjoys working in his wood shop and making brooms in his spare time. The students enjoyed learning about the life of this local hero!










Making the start of homecoming week extra groovy. ☮️✌️

Lily Mercer (K-2), Lynnlee Holland (3-5) and Vera Kramer (3-5) won the balance challenge today while at recess. Wellness coordinator, Megan Lang, had students stand on one leg to see who could last the longest. These three girls were our winners. Congratulations to all!


Congratulations to Mrs. Gerber for receiving the OSBA Outstanding Classified Staff Member Award this evening. Your efforts do not go unnoticed. Way to go, Denise.



Attached are the October newsletter items. We have a ton going on in the near future. Next week is spirit week and picture day as well.




Miss Megan Lang, wellness coordinator, came and spoke to the fourth and fifth graders today on vaping. Students are taught about the ingredients in a vape along with the harmful effects. What a great lesson, Miss Megan.





Today our 4th graders wrote kind notes to the 5th graders. #startwithhello







To celebrate Start with Hello Week Third Grade wrote about why their classmates are marvelous! Everyone picked a random name and wrote three reasons why the classmate they picked is marvelous. Then, they shared with everyone!
Third Grade also delivered smiley faces to other classes and staff members!



Today our 4th graders made bookmarks for kindergarten. Then kindergarten surprised the 4th graders with bookmarks they had made. The kindergarteners were so proud to deliver them to the 4th graders at the end of the day! What a nice gesture by all.







Fifth grade wrote messages on other's desks and delivered nice cards to different grade levels to celebrate Start with Hello Week.



First grade gave smiles and hugs to the Kindergarteners for a Start with Hello Week activity. 😊 Way to go, First Grade.



Third and fourth graders went to the high school today to watch Mark Comley “Uncle Sam” History Jam. A comedy magician brought to us by Arts Bridge. A good time was had by all!






Second graders used reading buddies today to help them with following along and tracking the words.



Start with Hello Activity
This week is Start with Hello- the Sandy Hook Promise. Therefore, 4th graders wrote kind messages on the desks of the 5th graders this morning.







Congratulations to Salem-Liberty Elementary on receiving a wonderful report card from the Ohio Department of Education. We were rated a 4.5 star school.
