Mr. Joe Fouss visited both 4th & 5th grade social studies classes. He spoke to them about helping start the Lower Salem Volunteer Fire Dept. in 1974 and volunteering as a firefighter and EMT for 50 years. He shared several awards that he has earned over the years, including being one of ten senior citizens in the whole state of Ohio selected to join the Ohio Hall of Fame for Senior Citizens. Mr. Fouss also shared that he enjoys working in his wood shop and making brooms in his spare time. The students enjoyed learning about the life of this local hero!

To celebrate Start with Hello Week Third Grade wrote about why their classmates are marvelous! Everyone picked a random name and wrote three reasons why the classmate they picked is marvelous. Then, they shared with everyone! Third Grade also delivered smiley faces to other classes and staff members!

Today our 4th graders made bookmarks for kindergarten. Then kindergarten surprised the 4th graders with bookmarks they had made. The kindergarteners were so proud to deliver them to the 4th graders at the end of the day! What a nice gesture by all.
