School resource officer, Tonya Tullius, spoke with the Salem- Liberty staff this morning about ALICE protocol.


We are so glad to host our annual Grandparents Day from 1-3 p.m. on 10/24. Some grandparents have been invited to attend from 1:00-1:45, and some grandparents have been invited to attend from 2:15-3:30. Session times were sent home with students today. We look forward to seeing special family members on October 24th!


Today was the Great Apple Crunch. Apples were served across the district this week to promote healthy eating. The five different types of apples came from Hidden Hills Orchard in Marietta, Ohio.








Fourth Graders practiced multi-digit multiplication today by playing games together.

Our fifth grade class took a field trip today to Hartline Farms, which is located in Marietta. Students were able to learn about the process of running a farm along with the importance of farms. Thank you, Hartline farms, for having us.






Just a reminder, this Wednesday, October 8, is hat day. Students may wear a hat all day just by simply paying $1.00.
In addition, PJ day will be October 17. Once again, just bring $1.00. All proceeds go to the Salem-Liberty PTO.

Salem-Liberty fifth grade completed their Ohio Department of transportation snow plows this week. It looks wonderful. Excellent job, fifth graders and Mrs. Baker.





Today is National Custodian's Day. Thank you, Mr. Matt and Ms. Debbie, for your work at Salem-Liberty. We greatly appreciate it.

Reminder, Thursday is a 2 hour early out. We will dismiss at 2:00. Parent teacher conferences will take place starting at 2:15.

Mr. Joe Fouss visited both 4th & 5th grade social studies classes. He spoke to them about helping start the Lower Salem Volunteer Fire Dept. in 1974 and volunteering as a firefighter and EMT for 50 years. He shared several awards that he has earned over the years, including being one of ten senior citizens in the whole state of Ohio selected to join the Ohio Hall of Fame for Senior Citizens. Mr. Fouss also shared that he enjoys working in his wood shop and making brooms in his spare time. The students enjoyed learning about the life of this local hero!

Lily Mercer (K-2), Lynnlee Holland (3-5) and Vera Kramer (3-5) won the balance challenge today while at recess. Wellness coordinator, Megan Lang, had students stand on one leg to see who could last the longest. These three girls were our winners. Congratulations to all!



Congratulations to Mrs. Gerber for receiving the OSBA Outstanding Classified Staff Member Award this evening. Your efforts do not go unnoticed. Way to go, Denise.
