Fort Frye Local Schools is pleased to inform you that we have joined a nationwide community effort to make our school Heart Safe with Project ADAM. This decision is the result of our wish to ensure that our campus is prepared to provide an immediate response to someone suffering a cardiac emergency. In the United States, it is estimated that annually 356,000 adults experience out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, as well as 23,000 pediatric cardiac arrests (Mozaffarian, D, 2015; Okubo, M et al, 2020). Although approximately 90% of those people will not survive the event, the likelihood of survival increases with prompt intervention. Early intervention that includes CPR and restoration of normal heart rhythm with the use of an AED increases the chance of survival. Through our cooperative efforts with Project ADAM, led by Nationwide Children's Hospital, we have joined hundreds of schools throughout the nation in preparing our school for a life-threatening emergency. This program enables us to offer any person who may experience a sudden cardiac arrest the best chance for survival.

We had a great day in 4th grade learning all about trees thanks to Washington Soil & Water Conservation District! 🌳 Students explored the importance of Arbor Day, discovered different types of trees, and learned about Ohio’s native species. It was a fun, hands-on experience that helped us better understand how we can care for our environment. Each student is also taking home their own White Pine tree to plant! We are so thankful for the opportunity to learn from our local experts!

After doing some research and writing about their animal, 2nd grade students made dioramas at home. They were excited to share all the new things they learned and answer questions during their presentation time. All the habitats looked amazing! Great job, 2nd grade.

Last week Deerassic Park Education Center visited Salem-Liberty and did a presentation called "The Scoop on Poop". The students enjoyed a fun interactive program on Ohio mammal scat. Students learned interesting facts about animal poop and got to see replica samples. This was a great learning experience. Thanks to the Salem-Liberty P.T.O. for paying for this enjoyable learning experience for our students.
