The Fort Frye FFA Chapter had an unforgettable experience at the 2025 Ohio FFA State Convention, held at the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus, Ohio. This two-day event was packed with recognition, celebration, and inspiration as members from across the state gathered to honor achievements in agricultural education and leadership.
The trip began with an exciting outing to the Columbus Clippers baseball game for dollar dog night. Members enjoyed bonding with each other to start our trip off on a good night.
The first day of convention many Fort Frye members were honored for their hard work and accomplishments. Five chapter members were recognized as proficiency finalists for their excellence in their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs. These students included Parker Burris, who earned second place in Ag Communications; Julia Silvus, who took first place in Ag Education; Reagan Witten, who placed fourth in Ag Sales; Ty Worthington, who earned first place in Vegetable Production; and Christy Willis, who finished second in Veterinary Science. A special congratulations goes to Julia Silvus and Ty Worthington, who will now represent Fort Frye FFA at the National level.
In addition to individual awards, Fort Frye received a Gold-Rated Chapter Award for the chapter’s outstanding work and dedication in the National Chapter Award Program. The chapter was also recognized for its contributions to charitable giving. Shout out to member Alexis White for her work as an Ohio Country Journal Reporter for the second year. During the first session, the newly slated 2025–2026 State Officer Team was announced. Following this session two chapter members got to attend the delegate session to listen to each slated officers “Why I Desire” speech and vote on who should receive what position. During this time, the chapter took time to explore The Ohio State University campus and enjoy the convention’s shopping mall. Julia Silvus, who served as a State Vice President At Large for the 2024–2025 year, got to honor a few of our administrators and Ag educators for their unwavering support throughout the year. Lastly, several inspirational keynote speakers challenged all attendees to grow as leaders.
The energy continued onto the second day of the convention as three Fort Frye officers were recognized for their efforts put into their officer books. Alexis White (Secretary), Reiley Miller (Treasurer), and Kallie Boley (Reporter) were awarded Gold Rated Officer Books, a reflection of their hard work and dedication over the past year. Afterward, the group took a break at Topgolf and Target before returning to the convention expo and shopping mall for more opportunities to connect with other FFA members from across the state.
During the final session of convention, one of the convention’s most prestigious honors, the State FFA Degree, was awarded to several Fort Frye members. The State FFA Degree is the highest recognition that the state can bestow upon a member and is awarded to only the top 2% of members. This award recognizes outstanding achievements in agricultural education, leadership, and community service. The following members earned the golden charm of the State FFA Degree: Parker Burris, Jaden Cox, Reiley Miller, Paige Morgenstern, Peyton Offenberger, Brookelyn Stottsberry, Faith Treadway, Alexis White, and Christy Willis.
The convention ended with a heartfelt moment as our very own Julia Silvus officially retired from her role as an Ohio FFA State Vice President at Large. Throughout her year of service, Julia’s dedication, leadership, and passion for FFA made a lasting impact across the state. The chapter celebrates Julia’s achievements and the legacy she leaves behind, expressing pride in her accomplishments. From individual awards and state degrees to chapter recognitions and officer honors, the 2025 Ohio FFA Convention was a powerful reminder of the Fort Frye FFA Chapter’s commitment to excellence. The chapter returns home proud of its achievements and inspired for the year ahead. Congratulations to all the members for representing Fort Frye FFA with pride, dedication, and leadership.
